Join 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½â€™s Jazz Studies Department for an annual 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Jazz Improv Workshop. This hands-on learning experience is for high school and junior college  students and music educators who are looking to expand their knowledge of jazz improvisation, theory, listening skills and performing in small ensembles (combos). We welcome all skill levels from beginners to experienced. Our guest artist is New Orleans-based bassist and composer Amina Scott, who will work with students in masterclasses and perform with the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Jazz Ensemble in a closing concert.

Registration is free but required. Based on your information, you will be placed in one of the three improv class levels:

  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced
Guest Artists
Amina Scott

New Orleans-based composer and performer, Scott is an electric and acoustic bassist with a style of her own. During her master classes at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, she will help you develop and enhance improvisational skills. She will also perform with 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Big Band in a concert concluding the day.
